(The Town of Banff hired For Trees in 2008 to help create an urban forest management plan.) It will help us create a plan for keeping the trees that we have healthy, replanting the ones that have to be removed, and coordinating with FireSmart so we don't do anything that works against that. I think it will also help us put some money in the budget for replanting and be able to carry out a coordinated program year-after-year to make sure our urban forest stays healthy.

We have had a space under our deck for years, a space just itching for something beautiful. Thanks to Tara and Jane, we now have a stone patio that overlooks the Rosebud Valley. It has made a wonderful spot for us to sit and relax after being stuck in front of computers all day. The barbecued steaks even seem to taste better now! Thanks again.

| For Trees Receives Awards |
 The Landscape Alberta Nursery Trades Association (LANTA) Landscape Awards reflect the Association's commitment to the development and promotion of high standards of excellence in the landscape contracting industry. The program is designed to reward independent landscape contracting companies that execute quality landscaping projects in design, construction or maintenance.Early in 2009, For Trees Company received the Award of Excellence from Landscape Alberta for achieving more than 85 points in the "Residential Landscape for Water Features" category. This was for a property in the town of Acme, Alberta, and was three years in the making.
At the ISA's Conference, Trade Show & International Tree Climbing Competition in Providence, Rhode Island in July 2009, Gerard was named one of seven "True Professionals of Arboriculture" world-wide! This honours professionals who represent the profession well, in countless ways - such as their interaction with customers, leadership of employees, and communication with the larger communities in which they work.
 In 2007 and 2008, For Trees Company Ltd received Silver in the Mountain View Publishing's People's Choice Awards as "Best Nursery/Greenhouse". With these awards, Mountain View Gazette readers choose the very best the area has to offer, recognizing the businesses in their region they love. In addition, For Trees Company was named the "People's Choice" recipient at the Didsbury Trade Show in both 2007 and 2010, and received "Best Booth Awards" for many years as well. These are some of our most treasured awards, because they come from the people we serve.
The Didsbury & District Chamber of Commerce named the For Trees Company the 2005 Small Business of the Year. Designed to recognize Didsbury and district businesses that provide top quality customer service and community support, the Award showcases the entrepreneurial spirit found in our business community.
In 2005, For Trees Company received a LANTA Award of Merit for Residential Landscape Construction. Each landscaping award entry is evaluated independently against a list of industry-set criteria. A jury of industry experts judge the entries: the jury is comprised of professionals chosen from the fields of landscape architecture and design, education, landscape construction and landscape maintenance.
In 2005, Gerard received the Executive Choice Award from the Board of LANTA for long-time support of Arbor Day in Calgary, and throughout the province, and for spearheading the Alberta Arborist Safety Committee that successfully lobbied the government to change the Workplace Health and Safety legislation to include Tree Care Operators (Part 39 of the new Act). |
