For Trees Company is proud to be associated with Tree Canada, the Landscape Alberta Nursery Trades Association (LANTA), the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), and the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association (CNLA). Locally, Gerard is a past president of the Didsbury Lions Club, a member of the Olds & District Chamber of Commerce, the Didsbury & District Chamber of Commerce, and the Carstairs & Community Chamber of Commerce. He also volunteers as a dog handler with the Rosebud Run Sleddog Classic.

For Trees is proud to be associated with:

Tree Canada provides education, technical assistance, resources and financial support through working partnerships to encourage Canadians to plant and care for trees in an effort to help reduce the harmful effects of carbon dioxide emissions.

LANTA members are involved in various sectors of the ornamental horticultural industry, and the association represents arborists, garden centres, landscape contractors (installation and maintenance), lawn care applicators, nurseries, and sod producers.

The Canadian Nursery Landscape Association (CNLA) is a national federation of nine provincial green industry associations representing over 3,500 members in the landscape horticulture, retail garden centre, and nursery (primary production) sectors.

The Alberta Heritage Tree Project was designed to raise awareness and educate people about the environmental and historical value of trees. The project identified and catalogued Heritage Trees throughout the province. Gerard Fournier was pleased to volunteer in the field verifying and assessing these trees. Each tree contains within their stories a unique part of Alberta’s history: one very much tied to the land.

In July 2009, Gerard received the ISA's True Professionals of Arboriculture Award
I know Gerard doesn’t do it for the recognition, but it pleases me to no end to see him awarded for his dedication to trees and people. I took a tree-care and pruning class from Gerard way back in 1998 (99?) through the Calgary Board of Education. I remember how much I loved that class because this guy was so enthusiastic about teaching it. I went out and bought my first saw after that class. Congratulations!
