Arbor Day in Calgary
Over the years we have planted the Arbor Day tree in snow, rain, and hot sun. 2007 was a very wet day! Each year a different Calgary elementary school is given the honour of hosting our official Arbor Day ceremony where the official Arbor Day Ceremonial Tree is planted on the school's grounds. Check back to see when Arbor Day will be held in Calgary in 2011, and which school is the lucky recipient of a new tree! Gerard Fournier of For Trees Company has sat on the Calgary Civic Arbor Day Committee since 1991.

Christmas Tree Chip-off
Photo GalleryAfter the holiday season is over, Didsbury residents are asked to recycle their natural Christmas trees, instead of putting them at the curb for collection with the garbage. For Trees Company Ltd donates time and a chipper to help get the Christmas trees out of the garbage and off the streets each January.

Managing and inspecting for hazards, such as dead branches or trees that have become unsafe, should be a part of an annual maintenance plan. Community Work
Joelle and Gerard Fournier enjoy volunteering in the community, and have worked on many different projects throughout the years. This includes Arbor Day celebrations in Calgary, the Christmas Tree Chip-off in conjunction with the Didsbury Lions Club, and sponsoring events such as the Mountain View Music Fest in Carstairs. We also volunteer with the ISA Tree Climbing Competition.		 About Us

For Trees and the Didsbury Lions Club received the People's Choice Award at the 2010 Didsbury Art, Travel & Trade Expo. The booth consisted of the ever popular Lions playhouse that is raffled off from April to August, paving stone patio, lots of spring flowers and trees, and a great arbour. Thanks to everyone who voted for us!

We also like our staff to have a little fun. We have enjoyed putting our 63 foot aerial tree trimming truck in the Didsbury Elks Parade each August.

The Didsbury Elks host one of the finest parades in Alberta each summer. Pictured here are Tara Battram behind the wheel, with riders Gerard (Tree Canada's Southern Alberta Community Advisor), and Champion Tree Climber, Ken Moore and his son, Brady. Joelle was in charge of throwing candy to the eager kids.
