Christmas Tree Chip-off
 After the holiday season is over, Didsbury residents are asked to recycle their natural Christmas trees, instead of putting them at the curb for collection with the garbage. For Trees Company Ltd donates time and a chipper to help get the Christmas trees out of the garbage and off the streets each January.

Where We Work
 For Trees Company Ltd. provides the only full service tree service in Central Alberta & Mountain View County, in the towns of Carstairs, Didsbury, Olds, Sundre, and west to Cremona and Water Valley. Nestled amongst the stunning foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and the fertile prairie rolling eastward beyond the Queen Elizabeth II (QEII) highway, Mountain View County is in the heart of Alberta's Calgary-Edmonton corridor. We have also been the company of choice for the Towns of Banff and Hanna. In Banff National Park, For Trees Company was contracted to remove dead trees in many municipal environmental reserves the Town is responsible for, including pruning dead wood around the Bow Falls parking lot area. In Hanna, we had a comprehensive arborist agreement with the Town involving the inspection and identification of hazard trees, their removal, and street and park pruning. As a result of all this municipal work, we are able to provide quality tree service to individual property owners in Hanna and Banff.

A Little History
 Gerard was headed down a different path when he first caught the 'tree bug'. He studied philosophy and political science at the University of Calgary, working as a landscaper in the summer. "The more I worked landscapes, the less I wanted to go into the legal profession or politics," he says with a smile. "When I was 18, I had just finished my first year of university and was desperate for jobs." One episode that stands out for Gerard was the summer he found a job through Hire-A-Student. I was working at a steelyard in southeast Calgary, shovelling gravel and painting windows. I was amazed at how the factory workers seemed so robotic. They all stopped work at the same time, broke for lunch at the same time, opened their lunch pails at the same time. I would look over now and then at the landscaping crew," he remembers. "They all seemed to be enjoying what they were doing," adding, "they truly cared about their tasks. That's what I want to instill to my crew, and what For Trees brings to its customers." |
